Knot - connected - joint - crowd - security - bond - weaving - tie. As a member of a diaspora, we can often feel a knot in the stomach, arising from a lack of bonding and connection with people and space in our everyday life. This is a creative language drawn from Pamela Leung's personal experience with different cultures. As many other transnational migrants, Pamela made her journey to Australia from Hong Kong in the 70s. Her artwork explores the experience of a member of the Chinese diaspora, many of whom have left their homeland to seek new lives, and opportunities in different parts of the world.
